About

Join me in my Introductory STEM classes on Rebel Alchemy. These single 30 or 60-minute lessons are approachable and practical, giving you a taste of new topics and the confidence to decide if you’d like to explore further.

Teaching computer programming, math, and related subjects has been at the core of my academic and professional life for over 30 years. My passion for education began in my teens, when I taught kids how to code at summer computer camps, and grew during my university years at Carnegie Mellon, where I learned how my coding choices affect performance.

Later in graduate school, I taught college-level courses including C programming, Basic programming, and Calculus. I also authored a C programming textbook that was used in my own classes and by other instructors.

As a professional software engineer, I’ve carried that same emphasis on education into the workplace — mentoring and training fellow developers in SQL, C#/.NET, APIs, best practices, and performance optimization across a wide range of industries. I create original learning materials to make complex ideas feel concrete and relatable.

BONUS TRIVIA: Along the way, I even set a couple of competitive computing records, such as the fastest time to calculate 1 trillion digits of Pi - which has since been broken. But my poster and coffee table book designs still break Pi digit records, with as many as 100 million tiny Pi digits.

My teaching style is patient, clear, and approachable, with a focus on building confidence — especially for students who may have struggled with technical subjects in the past. Whether you’re exploring Pi, SQL, C, or API Testing for the first time, my goal is to make the experience both understandable and enjoyable.
