About
Most people know me as a performer: dance (ballet), performance (acting, voice, breath work), writing (poetry, drama, fiction, essay), literature and French. For me, it's fun, but it can be scary: Standing up while people stare at you, sharing your feelings to better articulate your thoughts aloud...these skills don't come easy, but they are essential to being seen and understood.
As a teacher, I am ever-mindful of the novice. The student who wants to learn, but feels somehow ill-suited to the task. "I'm just not good at this" is my favorite attitude to change. "I don't know what I'm doing" sounds more to me like, 'Can I do this in front of you?' At the end of the day, I see myself as a creative coach and editor. Here for you!
After earning my Master's degree from Columbia University, I lived and worked in France, continuing to publish and perform internationally. My writing has been published in various journals, including The Spectator, The Nation and the Brooklyn Rail.
