About

I have experience teaching creative writing, English literature, and composition at University of Houston, Houston Community College, Rice University and Stanford Continuing Studies. Some of the courses I have taught include Creative Nonfiction and Poetry Workshops, Introduction to World Literature, Introduction to Poetry, and Research-Based Writing.

Currently, I am a core faculty member in creative nonfiction and poetry at Alma College’s low-residency MFA Program in Creative Writing. I’ve served as the 2021 Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow and the 2019-2021 Houston Poet Laureate.

I am recently certified in yoga and am a RYT-200 certified instructor.

My ideal students are curious and eager to learn and I can offer them mentorship and challenging lessons. I help each student set and meet goals, allowing for flexibility as they progress in studies.
