About
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a focus in Animation and Illustration, as well as a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in Early Childhood Education. I am also a certified art educator and have six years of experience working with and teaching children. My background has allowed me to combine my passion for art with my experience in education, giving me a strong understanding of both the creative process and how children learn and develop.
My formal art education gave me a strong foundation in drawing, illustration, visual storytelling, character design, and creative problem-solving. My experience in early childhood education has taught me the importance of meeting students where they are developmentally, creating an encouraging learning environment, and adapting lessons to different learning styles and abilities. I am especially passionate about hands-on and visual learning because these are approaches that I personally find effective and naturally incorporate into my teaching.
My ideal students are young artists who are curious, creative, and interested in learning how to express their ideas through art. I enjoy working with beginners who may be developing their foundational skills, as well as students who already have some experience and want to build confidence and explore new techniques. My goal is not simply to teach students how to draw a particular subject, but to help them develop observation skills, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and the confidence to experiment and make their own artistic choices.
I offer students a supportive and engaging classroom where there is room to make mistakes, try new things, and develop their own artistic voice. I incorporate demonstrations, visual examples, hands-on activities, and opportunities for students to practice and receive feedback. I also love incorporating fun facts, storytelling, and real-world connections into lessons whenever possible. Ultimately, I want my students to leave class feeling proud of what they created, excited to keep learning, and confident that their ideas are worth putting onto paper.
