About
Hello! My name is Maikel Masoud, and I’m a passionate educator, engineer, and U.S. Army veteran dedicated to helping students thrive in STEM through real-world understanding and creative exploration. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley and am currently pursuing graduate studies in Robotics and Autonomous Systems at the University of Cincinnati. Over the past decade, I’ve taught mathematics—from Algebra to Calculus II—and physics at honors, AP, and college levels in more than ten educational institutions, including academies, learning centers, and private schools. I was also honored to be hired as a tutor at both Diablo Valley College and UC Berkeley, where I supported students in advanced math and engineering courses. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that an educator is a mentor first and a teacher second. I prioritize building strong, supportive relationships with my students while simplifying complex concepts and connecting them to real-life applications. This approach helps students engage with STEM subjects confidently and meaningfully. A key highlight of my career has been designing and launching the first UC-approved Honors Robotics 1 and 2 curriculums for Stratford Preparatory School. This hands-on program blends mechanical design, coding, and engineering problem-solving to prepare high school students for advanced robotics competitions and future STEM careers. Outside the classroom, I’m deeply engaged in personal development and innovation. My hobbies include fitness, working on personal robotics and engineering projects, filing patents, and exploring new technologies like machine learning, artificial intelligence, object detection, and robotic programming. I also enjoy listening to and playing music as a creative outlet. Whether I’m teaching integrals or Newton’s laws, my classroom is a place where curiosity, creativity, and confidence are cultivated. I believe in empowering students to ask bold questions, take intellectual risks, and build a deep, meaningful connection to the material they’re learning. I look forward to helping your child grow as a learner and thinker, and to inspiring a lifelong passion for science, math, and innovation.
