I have been a professional cinematographer/videographer, editor, and award-winning documentary filmmaker for 20 years, and I hold a BA in Film. I have designed a course and the curriculum for a course about cinematography, taught remotely/online. I just finished teaching an Introduction to Cinematography course at the San Francisco Film School, and have been guest-lecturing for three years at the California College of the Arts (CCA).

My ideal students are either entry-level, 101, up to advanced/professional level, and the curriculum I design would be catered to the applicable teaching level. My teaching approach stems from the real-world experience I bring to the table after shooting 21 feature-length films, over 50 short films, dozens of documentaries, and countless corporate, commercial, and event shoots. My philosophy is to prepare students for the professional job market by teaching them everything from the fundamentals of cinematography, editing, and directing, to must-have skills that they will 100% encounter when they set out on their own.

This approach prepares the students by learning from my own experience in practical ways rather than teaching theory. I believe that most students learn more within a year of graduating than they do in their 2-4 years in school, and my goal is to fast-track students to be prepared out of the gate to make a living and/or take their skills and craft to the next level as efficiently as possible.
